Our Vision

The Treasury vision is “ To assist in making Montserrat a thriving, modern, growing economy with an acceptable and disciplined fiscal responsibility.”

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide accurate and timely financial information to decision makers within a fiscally secure environment and to make payments on department’s behalf correctly and in a timely manner. To also provide advice on procedures, systems and management tools to assist managers to take responsibility for their budgets.

Corporate Goals

The following corporate goals of the Treasury Department provide the framework within which the Government’s financial policies will be implemented.   

1. To ensure that the Treasury Department has the necessary organisational strength, capability, technical skills and resources to carry out its functions in an efficient, effective, consistent and transparent manner.

2. To enhance internal procedures and practices so that the department is in a position to meet the future demands required from all its key stakeholders.

3. To produce accurate and timely financial advice and information.

4. To enhance the regional and international reputation of the Treasury Department.

Our Function

The Treasury reports directly to the Honourable Financial Secretary. There are thirteen members of staff. The Accountant General heads the department. One staff member works solely on the Montserrat Government Savings Bank counter services, three staff members work in the area of pensions and payroll, One staff member works in the area of receipt of revenue counter services, four work in computer services, one in reception/secretarial services and the remaining two work in the area of financial management, reconciliation, management reporting and higher level analysis.
